This style of wreath can be made for any holiday! I love the use of striped ribbon, satin ribbon, lace ribbon, mixed with complimentary colors. It give it texture and eye appeal! This would look great in Christmas colors, Halloween or fall polka dot ribbon colors, even in red white and blue patriotic colors!
Begin by selecting your color pallet. You can use any texture, design and color ribbon since it will be cut into six inch strips.
This wreath does not need a ribbon bow since it is all made from ribbon but you can add a wide ribbon bow to hang it from.
You will also need a wire wreath form or coat hanger. Add the ribbon by tying the strips to the wire frame in random order. Be sure to distribute the color evenly. Keep pushing the ribbon tightly together and keep it going in all directions but the back side since it will be against the wall or door.
These glass ornament wreaths with vintage ribbon are amazing! I may actually make one with all red satin ornament balls I have no more room for on our tree.
There are several ways to make this craft. One requires a glue gun and a foam wreath form. You remove the loop from all the ornaments, make sure the tops are all well attached. Wrap ribbon around wreath, slightly overlapping the edges to completely cover. Hot-glue to secure. Hot-glue the large ball ornaments to the wreath, positioning the balls at various locations and distributing colors evenly. Continue adding smaller ornaments, hot-gluing the balls to the wreath or to each other. Use the smallest ornaments to fill open areas.
Another way requires a wire coat hanger. Leave the loops on the ornaments and begin threading them on the hanger randomly. Finally use vintage ribbon to make a loop and a bow to hang the wreath.
This is a very basic style wreath for Christmas. Most people can make this style even if you are not a crafty person.
Wreath making can be a family tradition. The more you make, the braver you will get to try more challenging designs.
The frosted pine cones are wired together and wired to the wreath. This type would look charming as a fresh wreath hung outside. The pine cones will weather fine and so will the velvet ribbon.
You can buy red plastic bows at any discount store along with the pine cones, but quality velvet ribbon at whole sale priced, check out our website for all your ribbon needs.
We custom make bows also if bow tying frustrates you. I struggled with bows until I learned the trick. Now it’s so simple I put bows on everything. Check out the website and see all our custom bows.
A bow can change the whole appearance of any wreath. Choose your style of ribbon by determining the style and drama you hope to display.
If you love to craft and create then you can make any style wreath you want. If you love wreaths like these, but don’t have time to make them yourself I have friends who make them.
To begin your wreath, decide where you want to place it. Then decide whether you to use real or artificial greenery. A fresh wreath should be hung in a cool place. If you place a fresh wreath in a warm place, it will dry up and drop needles on the floor.
This wired metallic gold taffeta ribbon bow is stunning and abundantly dramatic with the full bow and long tails. Make the ribbon bow and wire it to the wreath. Wire on some poinsettia’s and silver gilded pine cones. You can add lights deep in the wreath too and hang near a plug in. If you don’t have a plug in nearby, then use the battery powered lights.
I have shared countless ideas with you about the infinite uses for ribbon. Ribbon hair bows that every little girl will love. Unique gift wrapping with fancy ribbon bows are lots of fun. Crafts and crochet projects that use knitting ribbon are also on the blog.
Here is a great idea that you may not have considered. We have all used the little metal hangers for our Christmas tree ornaments. But this idea has such a dramatic look that you will not want to use the metal hangers again.
Choose the theme of your tree. Decide what color ribbon will look best. Red ribbon is very dramatic on the green tree. But if your taste is for the ribbon to fade in to the back ground, then choose a forest green nylon satin ribbon.
Thread the thin ribbon through the hole in the ornament, make a loop and tie a bow. Then hang the ornament on the tree with the ribbon.

Are you planning a wedding in the fall? Is the groom to-be and avid hunter? Her is a cute way to add a little surprise for him and still keep with the tradition of the groom tossing the garter.
This doesn’t have to match your wedding colors, no one will see it until after the wedding, but the groom will appreciate the fact that you are aware of his hobbies and interests and included his favorite hobby into your wedding day.
When you choose your garter, pick up some camouflage ribbon and add it to the embellishment of the band. You can sew it on with little gathers and ruffles. It will only take a few minutes. But He will remember it for a life time!
What is the first think you think of when you see a candy cane? Christmas!
Peppermint candy or candy canes are a traditional trimming for Christmas.
I would love to have these decorative Christmas dishes to serve our Christmas brunch on. I’m sure I won’t ever have these exact dishes or be able to set a table that looks identical to this but there are ways to copy the idea that will be just as fun.
Candy striped ribbon would look sweet as napkin rings. You can also use striped ribbon to tie around the base of a water goblet, or a pedestal cake stand.
I love the penguins too. If you can’t find the cups and saucers like these, you can improvise by crocheting some or construction paper coasters.
It’s fun to decorate for the holidays. Whether you decorate a lot or a little, it will all add to the merriment of the season.
Christmas time is the season of giving! Sacrificial giving of one’s time and creativity more than the amount of money you can spend.
I love this country way of decoratively packaging some home baked goodies or candies to give as gifts. Paper lunch bags are very inexpensive. You can place individual mini loaves or banana bread or pumpkin bread in a sandwich baggie and place in the bottom of the bag. – fold down the top of the paper sack, punch two holes through the middle of the folded down flap, either side by side or top and bottom, push each ribbon end through each hole from the front to back, then take one ribbon up over the top and the other down and come up from the bottom. Tie a knot making sure that your ends are even.
Make a gift tag, use thin ribbon or cord to attach the gift tag, you can thread the cord in from the back into the two holes and tie a knot after attaching the tag. Then tie a bow with the ribbon to finish the wrapping.
This is a great way to give your neighbors some holiday goodies, with a Christmas card; you can use this same idea for treat bags at school. You can change the theme by changing the ribbon style. Today’s kids are very active in sports and activities at school. You can give goodie bags to the team members and use a sports ribbon theme.
Candy canes are a must for our family at Christmas time! My dad loved candy canes, and we did too. But it became very sentimental when daddy passed away. Every Christmas, daddy would sit in his chair and watch us decorate the tree while he enjoyed a candy cane. Of course when he was healthier, he was always right in the middle of the decorating with a candy cane in his mouth.
That is why this idea caught my eye! There are long instructions for how to crochet this but the simplest way is to just crochet six granny squares to fit a cube of tissues. You can also use a cube of floral foam. I’m a huge fan of using ordinary things that we already have. Isn’t that the ultimate craft?
You will need: red yarn, white yarn, crochet hook, tapestry needle, candy canes, curling ribbon, (pre-made curling bows are fast) candy cane striped ribbon, candy canes, 3 7/8” x 3 7/8” x 3 7/8” floral foam or cube tissue box, weights for the foam or tissue box- you can hollow a place in the foam and put a paper weight or rock, or place a rock or paper weight inside the tissue box, hot glue to glue the ribbons to the top of the box, sharp object to poke holes in the box or foam that is just smaller than the candy canes or they will wobble.
Crochet six red granny squares, and then lace them together with white yarn. When you have a few sides laced, then insert the box and fold the squares up and lace the sides around the box. Once the top square has been laced around all four sides, you are ready to poke holes and insert the candy canes. Randomly allow enough room to insert one dozen candy canes. Start gluing metallic red curling ribbon, candy striped ribbon curls, grosgrain curls, (dip a length of ribbon into fabric glue or starch, wrap around a wax papered dowel rod or pencil and allow to dry, and then remove the ribbon from the wax paper).
Keep the candy cane dispenser box and enjoy it or make more and give away as gifts.
I know it isn’t even Thanksgiving yet and this is the second blog post about Valentine’s Day but planning ahead will ensure you get the best ribbon and packaging supplies.
Ribbon adds festivity, frill and romance to any occasion. This table would look ok if it was just red and white plates and a candle but by adding ribbon to the napkin rings, cupcakes, and random table cloth embellishments gives it the WOW factor!
Curling ribbon is fun to work with and you can use a sharp edge of scissors to curl the ends of the ribbon. Thin sheer ribbon around these cup cakes with cookie pops looks so cute.
Feathers, flowers, candy, candles and red satin ribbon transform any dinner table into a romantic dinner for two.
