When I saw this, I fell in love with it and wished I could find something like it.  When I did, I almost fell over at the price.  Apparently it’s a designer necklace.  I should have known, it was in Elle Magazine. I was flipping through it at the dr. office.  It prices for over a thousand dollars.  So I ordered 5 of them… ha ha  NOT!   I kept looking till I found something like it and was amazed at how simple it is to make.  So here are some simple instructions on how to make this necklace.  I also made one for a bracelet to match.

The original picture is made from grosgrain ribbon, but I made one from organza and satin ribbon. I made a bracelet from taffeta ribbon and I love it as well.

YOU WILL NEED:

10 feet of 7/8″ ribbon of your choice, 3large pearl beads, Fabric Glue (if you have beads with large enough holes then you can weave them through with more ribbon instead of glue), Large Crochet Hook, yarn needle, heated ribbon cutter or fray glue.

Cut the ribbon into two pieces. ( 7feet and a 3feet ) , crochet a chain with the 7 ft. piece, begin crocheting one foot from the end and stop with one foot left on the other end and finish with a slip knot.

Use the yarn needle and the 3ft piece of ribbon to weave in and out and around the crochet part, (this is where you can thread a bead on randomly to add if you choose not to glue them on) Be careful to leave all the ends the same length.

Tie a knot the two pieces of ribbon on each end. Finish off the ends of ribbon with a heat seal or glue to prevent fraying.

Now it’s time to glue the beads on if you didn’t weave them in earlier, it looks better if you use an odd number of beads. Make a matching bracelet if you wish.
