Get Carried Away with Spring

Brimming with vibrant tulips and intensely hued eggs, a rustic berry tray becomes a cheery centerpiece to brighten any tabletop.  Look for flat-bottom antique wooden carriers (called trugs) at flea markets, or artificially aged new one from a garden store using sandpaper.  Place tiny terra-cotta/clay pots inside the base in free-form rows filling the spaces in between with mounds of decorative moss.  In about half the containers, perch dyed hard-boiled eggs: in the other half, insert a dampened floral oasis (available at craft stores), I just used silk flowers stuck down in a small amount of clay or play-dough. I used tulip blossoms, hyacinths’, daffodils’ and more moss. I wrapped the top of the handle with grosgrain, decorative ribbon adding a tiny ribbon bow to each corner.  I also added a contrasting pastel sheer ribbon around the base making the ends meet with no bow.
