Votives Ribbon and Lace

Votives Ribbon and Lace

Ordinary votives can’t hold a candle to the ribbon and lace embellished beauties.

Use lace trim or decorative ribbon to decorate plain glass votive cups.  Place a strip of double stick tape down the outside edge of one side of the glass cup.  Wrap the trim around the entire tumbler, overlapping by ¼ inch, and cut.  Adhere double side tape on top of the pasted down edge and stick the trim to it.  These would make lovely gifts too.

Never let candles burn unattended.  Always trim your wicks so that the flame does not burn too high. Never place near fans or ceiling fans where the air will cause the candle flame to constantly flicker. The sides of the glass could become hotter than normal if you allow those things to happen.

Simply Elegant Christmas Tree

offray3Simple Elegance perfectly describes this modern yet space saving Christmas tree.  I tend to be a bit old fashioned when it comes to Christmas trees. I love the smell of fresh pine mixed with the holiday baking aroma.  But this lovely tree all decked out with holiday ribbon just caught my eye.  The tree is a small, white, metallic, artificial tree that looks as if the branches of a tiny pine tree have been covered with frost. Gold and Silver glass ornaments are hung with opposite color metallic curling ribbon. Beautiful silver and gold sheer metallic holiday ribbon bows are tied on each branch, mix in some curly streamers and a huge bow tree topper and this tree is complete.  I also love the beautiful packages below also trimmed with the same ribbon as the tree.  Keeping the colors to just silver, gold and white make this a simply elegant tree!

Scrapbooks, Journals, and Gift Tags

What do these four have in common?  Ribbon! Ribbon, elastic cord, elastic bands, rubber stamps, and pre-tied elastic ribbon, cords and bands all can be used while making all these things.  Elastic cord and bands are great for keeping the journal closed, and as page markers.  The possibilities are endless. The tiny rubber stamps were used to decorate the edges of these journals and scrap books.  You can stamp a name, the initials, or just random abc’s but however you use them it personalizes it just for you.

Many of the items you may need to create your own version of this idea can be found on our website by clicking on the ribbon link in my post.  If you don’t see exactly what you are looking for, please call the phone number on that page.

bl12frb.This is a simple and quick way to decoratively package some homemade goodies. Start with A simple brown gift box with tissue paper inside to nestle your treats in. Measure enough colorful cardstock to wrap around the box meeting at the bottom slightly overlapping. Make sure you measure the colorful paper slightly narrower than the box. Secure with pret-tied elastic cord bows. The recipient will have easy access to the box and be able to wrap it back up after they sample the treat. Here is a recipe for the pastry in the picture.

These are Manchego Twists

Makes 3 gifts, 24 twists in all;  Total time 25 minutes

You will need 1 thawed sheet frozen puff pastry (from a 17.3 ounce box); 1 beaten egg; ½ teaspoon paprika; 1/4teaspoon kosher salt; 1 ¼ cup finely grated Manchego cheese (about 5 ounces).

Heat the oven to 400*F. Brush the pastry with egg and sprinkle with paprika, salt and 1 cup of the cheese. Cut pastry into 12 ¾ inch wide strips, and then halve the strips crosswise. Twist the strips and place on parchment lined baking sheet, spacing them 1 inch apart. Sprinkle with remaining ¼ cup of cheese and bake until golden crisp, 12-15 minutes.

Keep at room temp up to 1 week.

bl12fGift Wrapping With Ribbon

Layering varying sizes of accent card stock using double stick squares, curvaceous scissors to creatively shape the edges, tiny beads as buttons, , and rubber stamp embossing for the greeting complete this sweetly wrapped gift.  Using 3/8” grosgrains with the same color 7/8” grosgrain ribbon marvelously decorate the gift and tag.

Ribbon and Flower Pots

bl1eRibbon and Flower Pots

Is a square flower pot a vase? It can be! I love this for so many reasons.  This is such a creative way to help delicate flowers stand up tall and not just droop out of the vase.  The thin ribbon is woven across the top of this square bowl and these tender tulips are poked down into the holes.  The ribbon coordinates with the color of the flowers too.  Cut your ribbon 2 inches longer than the diameter of container you choose to use.  Double stick tape works excellent for this job.  Start with one side and lay the ribbon tightly across the top and stick down the ends evenly .lined up and spaced.  Then use a coordinating ribbon to weave up and down across the first row and stick down the ends evenly spaced and lined up. Add water and your flowers. Change the ribbon and flowers for the change of the seasons.

bl12trraewtNo gift is complete with out the perfect gift tag.

Whether it is a home-made gift, a store bought gift, or a home-made gift inside a store bought package, don’t forget to add the tag.

bl1234This sweet canister jar is lovely by it self, but adding a gift tag with the recipe, ideas for use, description of content, or just a simple “To and From” completes the gift.

The fastest wrapping you will ever do, make the tag, and tie it on with a simple yet perfect grosgrain ribbon bow.

Gift Bags and Tulle

offray1bDecorative Packaging should be just that, decorative!  Half the fun of receiving any gift is enjoying the attractive package first.  It builds the anticipation!  This simple change to an everyday way of using a gift bag adds elegance and style.  This is already a high quality gift bag, instead of using tissue paper, why not use tulle netting?  It can be found in any craft store, or fabric store and most craft department of discount stores. You can find it in almost as many colors as tissue paper and priced about the same too.

Adding Pizzazz to Desk Organizers

bl12frIs there a rule that says “desk organization has to be boring” ?  NO!  This is a simple way of adding red accent ribbon to these great desk organizers.  The labels are printed on card stock, and backed with matching red card stock with just a hint of edging showing.  The box lid tops and bottoms are neatly bordered with red grosgrain or satin ribbon.  You can use double stick tape squares to hold the ribbon in position, smooth out any wrinkles, fold the corners in tight angles, and glue down with fabric glue. I love the added touch to the cylindrical box by adding wider red ribbon to tie the lid on.
