A Viennese child psychologist, Hans Asperger worked with a group of boys who all exhibited similar developmental differences. Asperger observed that all the boys were intelligent and had language skills consistent with their age, but they also had a certain set of autism-like symptoms, which were evident in social situations. Asperger developed a description and diagnostic criteria for the syndrome, which he named for himself.

April is Autism Awareness Month. Get jigsaw ribbon to support the research!
